Dominick Catania, DMD
Dr. Dominick Catania is a board-certified periodontist who graduated from the University of Florida College of Dentistry. After dental school, he completed a 3-year residency program focused on periodontics and oral surgery. While in residency, he received a Masters of Science degree and performed research with faculty members to identify how periodontal disease affects dental implants. This research was published in a peer-reviewed journal.
Dr. Catania became board-certified shortly after graduating from his residency at UF. Being a board-certified periodontist means that he is acknowledged by his peers as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
A diplomate is a periodontist who has made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty and who is certified by the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Catania has a passion for teaching. He is a part-time faculty member at the UF College of Dentistry and has performed numerous lectures and presentations for both UF faculty and students and for local dentists. He has taken numerous continuing education courses and has learned from some of the top clinicians in the world. He stays very active in the dental community and is a member of numerous dental organizations including the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, Florida Association of Periodontists, American Academy of Periodontology, West Coast District Dental Association, and Hillsborough County Dental Association.
Dr. Catania grew up in Ft. Lauderdale where he met his amazing wife Katherine. They moved to Tampa in 2012 and have three wonderful daughters. When not at the office, he enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family. He and his family are true Floridians and love being outdoors. Whether it's at the beach, hiking at a state park, or simply relaxing by the pool, they try to really enjoy the incredible things that Florida has to offer.
